Rząd Irlandii zadecydował, że na monetach irlandzkich wszystkich nominałów znajdować się będzie ten sam motyw: celtycka harfa, tradycyjny symbol Irlandii, a także rok emisji i słowo „Éire” – nazwa tego kraju po irlandzku. Motyw harfy zaprojektował Jarlath Hayes.
