The harmonised competitiveness indicators (HCIs) are constructed using the same methodology and data sources as for the nominal and real effective exchange rates of the euro. For euro area countries, the HCIs are calculated vis-à-vis the same 41 trading partners plus the other euro area countries. A positive/negative change indicates a decrease/increase in price competitiveness.
